Digital Quantum Simulation of Open Quantum Systems Using Quantum Imaginary–Time Evolution

Quantum simulation on emerging quantum hardware is a topic of intense interest. While many studies focus computing ground state properties or simulating unitary dynamics closed systems, open systems are an interesting target study owing to their ubiquity and rich physical behavior. However, non-unitary also not natural simulate digital devices. Here, we report algorithms for the governed by Lindblad equation using adaptations imaginary time evolution (QITE) algorithm. We demonstrate IBM Quantum's with simulations spontaneous emission two level system dissipative transverse field Ising model. Our work advances efforts hardware.
